Preparatory · Grade R to Grade 7
Curriculum, brought to life.
The CAPS curriculum taught through exploration, nature, making and connection, with progress a parent can actually see.
Opening 2027
Grade R to Grade 3 in the first year.
Waterford College opens in January 2027 with Grade R, 1, 2 and 3. Grade 4 joins in 2028, and Grades 5, 6 and 7 follow year by year, so the Preparatory school grows with its founding families rather than arriving all at once.
What children learn
What children take.
Nothing appears later that was not seeded earlier. A child's Grade 11 science began as staring at beetles in Preschool.
Grade R to Grade 3
Grade 4 to Grade 7
Afrikaans is our First Additional Language across all phases. Faith and character are woven through the school day and its culture rather than timetabled as a subject.
The daily deal
Homework by exception.
Homework happens when the evidence says it helps, which in the Preparatory years is rarely. We would rather your child read something they chose, get outside, and eat dinner with you.
Assessment follows the same principle: fewer, richer tasks with better feedback, so children are calmer and teachers learn more from what they mark. The outcomes hold up. That is the point of doing it this way.

The shape of a day.
