Welcome
Waterford College is a new independent, non-denominational Christian school in Fourways, northern Johannesburg, opening in January 2027. We teach the CAPS curriculum toward the IEB matric, and we are part of ThriveEd, a network of 11 schools and more than 9,000 students.
We exist to protect and grow the natural wonder every child is born with, forming children and students who are brave enough to try, grounded enough to care, and purposeful enough to contribute.
Our story
The journey
Waterford College opens with Preschool, Grade R to 3, and Grades 8 and 9. The remaining grades phase in year by year, building to a full Preschool-to-matric school by 2031.
A sensorial curriculum inspired by Montessori, Reggio Emilia and Charlotte Mason. Learning through the senses and the hands, with a half day, a three-quarter day or a full day.
The CAPS curriculum brought to life through exploration, nature, making and connection, with progress a parent can see. Homework only when the evidence says it helps.
Breadth first, then depth: strong subject choices toward the IEB matric. Grades 8 and 9 open in 2027, and the rest follow year by year.
Why Waterford College
Lessons built around genuine curiosity: exploring, making, learning outdoors, with real time to play. Assessment answers one question, which is what a child needs next, so tasks are richer and feedback is specific and quick. The academic rigour is a given.
Exceptional teaching at a fee more families can afford. The fee curve stays gentle as your child grows, with no steep jumps between phases, so the promise is the same from the first years all the way to matric.
A campus being built for wonder by award-winning architects Hubo Design: playscapes, greenery and light-filled interiors that invite children to explore. Beautiful spaces tell a child they are worth the effort.
We are a Christian school, and everyone is welcome and everyone belongs. Prayer and scripture open our days, and Thrive Youth, ThriveEd's youth ministry, brings worship evenings and youth events into campus life.
Warm, consistent care runs through the school: wellbeing and friendship skills taught deliberately, kind and clear ways of handling behaviour, and a safety net that catches a child before they fall behind.
Behind this new school stands ThriveEd, a network of 11 schools and more than 9,000 students. Every ThriveEd school is unique in how it serves its own community.
Beyond the classroom
Every child participates. We pursue our best, and enjoyment and friendship come first.
