Grades 8 and 9 go first.
Waterford College opens with Grades 8 and 9 in January 2027. Grade 10 joins in 2028, Grade 11 in 2029, and Grade 12 in 2030, which is when our first matric class writes.
Starting high school at a new school is a real decision, so here is the honest version of it. Your child would be part of a founding year group in a school with small numbers to begin with, unusual access to their teachers, and a genuine hand in what the school becomes. Behind that stands ThriveEd, with 11 schools already running and the systems to match.
Grade 8 and 9
The years that keep options open.
Every student in Grade 8 and Grade 9 takes all of these.
Faith and character are woven through the school day rather than timetabled as a subject, with Thrive Youth as an opt-out.
Grade 10 to 12, from 2028
Subjects taught properly.
Every student takes English Home Language, Afrikaans First Additional Language, Life Orientation, and either Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy. They then choose three electives.
Still wonder-led
High school does not have to stop being interesting.
The four threads carry all the way up. Science that builds a working prototype, geography that goes outside, history argued rather than recited. The academic demand rises, and so does the expectation that students can explain what they think and why.
Assessment stays deliberate: fewer, richer tasks with feedback students can act on. Preparation for the IEB matric is serious work, and it is better done by students who still want to be there.

Drop-off is from 07:00. Sport and cultural activities are included in the fees, and every student takes part in something. There is no aftercare or holiday club in High School; those run for Grade R to Grade 3, extending up to Grade 7 as those grades open.
